A devastating wildfire has been raging in California since January 7, 2025, prompting federal assistance for affected individuals and families. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) declared the incident a disaster on January 8, 2025, and has been working closely with state and local officials to aid response and early recovery efforts.¹

As of January 27, 2025, FEMA has approved over $48.8 million in individual and household assistance, with more than 22,000 applications approved.
